Playground Plan
Plan for Birch Bay State Park Playground

Ted Morris
Ted Morris, Ranger at Birch Bay State Park

"In 1995 we removed the swings and slide due to liability concerns. Since then we have received many inquiries every year from families regarding a playground. Northwest Park and Recreation District #2 had approved the purchase of a playground for Birch Bay State Park, but their operating levy failed last fall and they chose to use the money elsewhere. We have raised about $13,000 so far towards a $38,000 playground for the kids. We have already chosen the design with the help of the primary school kids in the Blaine School District. Any help towards our goal would be greatly appreciated!"

Thank you,
Ted Morris, Ranger

Hovander Park Animal Contact Area

The Animal Contact Area allows children to come into contact with typical farm animals. It's a great way for children to experience one of the most enjoyable parts of life on a farm. The structures in which the animals are held have fallen into disrepair, and need to be replaced. The WPRF is accepting donations toward the repair of this beloved facility, so that it remains safe and healthy for both the animals and visitors.
