Grant Program
WPRF offers an annual grant program awarding small grants to organizations working to improve parks, trails, natural areas and recreational opportunities in Whatcom County.

2008
Project Labyrinth was awarded $550 for the purchase of cement pavers for the installation of a permanent labyrinth in Fairhaven Park.
Bellingham Bay Community Boating Center was awarded $450 to cover the expense of training one volunteer instructor within their kayak instructor certification program.
The Center for Local Self-Reliance was awarded $1,000 for the construction of an ADA ramp for the Caretaker’s House in Fairhaven Park.
2007
Everson Garden Club was awarded $1,000 to enhance the popular Riverside Park with a new wheelchair accessible entryway, featuring a pergola and landscaped plantings. Many different organizations and individuals worked together on this project, including the City of Everson, Eagle Scouts, 4H and Everson Lions Club.
Northwest Indian College was awarded $500 for a bench along a new 1.5 mile walking trail. The trail is part of the new campus and will offer students a space to reflect, relax and study.
The York Neighborhood Association was awarded $500 for a new bench in Rock Hill Park, which offers a playground, basketball court and grassy lawn for games and picnics.
